A Look Back: DJ P.H.

Those who have been following this blog for a while may remember my Servitor DJ P.H. His job is to assist in spirit communications, especially when using technology (such as during the Estes Method).

The above image of him was brought into existence by the remarkable Tommie Kelly of Adventures in Woo Woo, creator of the Forty Servants. He spectacularly brought my conception of DJ P.H. as a radio show producer to life.

DJ is one of the oldest servitors that I have created, and possibly the one I have used the most. I know that he has spread around quite a bit, and many readers of this blog make use of him. Through the years, he has grown such that he’s even been able to manifest his own voice over the radio, and explicitly answer questions about other spirits that were “on the line”.

He has been absolutely marvelous at his job. He’s capable of seeking out spirits, even from vague descriptions, and opening a channel for conversation. He’s an excellent bouncer as well, and has time and again shown his ability to cut off communication with less than friendly entities.

His most obvious feature has been bringing the assembled group of magicians or spirit communicators into one precise orientation for the purpose of the working. By calling out to him, telling him in no uncertain terms who you want to speak with and who you don’t want to speak with, and asking him to handle the communication one easily and directly defines the specifics of what happens next.

However, over time I have realized he has a more subtle interaction with those who use him. I found myself using him less and less. For some things I’d still want him around as a sort of “safety” measure if things got out of hand, but for others I felt as if I could handle all aspects of the communication myself. But I never felt like he wasn’t around if I needed him, even if he wasn’t called out at the beginning of the working.

Essentially, the line between what he does and what I was doing began to blur. He was teaching me how to interact with spirits in the proper fashion. By using him and his expertise I was developing the same habits and skills that he has. Soon, I found there were no more interjections by other entities whose attention we had caught, no more questions about if who I was talking to was who they said they were, no worries about not being in control of the session.

I rarely use him now, at least not explicitly, but it still feels like he is around each time. Or, perhaps more accurately, the source of what he is stays present within me.

He deserves recognition for his skill and fantastic ability to do his job, and so I present to you here his image. He’s not permanently in the studio, he has a wonderful breakroom and attached home, and he loves fiddling with all the technology. If you leave him a beer after you finish with him, it shows up in his breakroom fridge for whenever he’d like to have it.

I’m certain he appreciates it.
